Number run

  • Number some cones or similar and set them out in a clear space
  • Ask the children to walk / run / skip around the perimeter
  • Shout out a number and encourage the children to run to the correct cone
  • You could make this more challenging by asking the children to run to their age / an odd number / the biggest number etc

Run on the whole foot, avoiding obstacles. This progresses to running on the toes

Run and stop and start easily

A mature cross lateral running pattern should be present – arms and legs on opposite sides are working together
