Walk the plank

Description

Walk the plank

Travel along different lines to challenge balance. These don't need to be high and can be set up to provide a developmentally appropriate challenge depending on the child's ability. You could use:

  • chalked or marked lines – these could be drawn as large numbers or letters for children to walk along and encourage letter / number recognition. This could be extended further, for example, by asking children to walk across the number 2 twice and the number 3 three times
  • planks of wood and/or logs
  • wobble boards
  • balance bikes to travel across or between chalked lines
  • Skate boards to sit on and use feet to push yourself along
